Sitz bath – This treatment improves the blood circulation in the area affected so that the pain and swelling are reduced; the patient takes a warm water bath in a tub and the water covers his hips and buttocks. Loose clothing/cotton underwear can avoid worsening the situation.
Use moist toilet paper and wipe the anus after emptying the bowel.
Pain killers – These are used only to reduce itchiness and pain; they do not heal hemorrhoids.
Enemas – normally acts as a bowel stimulant.Enema functions as a bowel stimulant.
OTC medications
Treatment of hemorrhoid using OTC medications is possible if it is in the early stages. Ointments, petroleum jellies, creams, and laxatives are commonly used medications. Hemorrhoids cream containing antiseptics and hydrocortisone are known to be the best.

Injection Sclerotherapy – is a medical process where the surgeon injects a chemical solution into the mucous membrane in the vicinity of the hemorrhoid. This chemical facilitates veins inflammation and closure and this shrinks the hemorrhoid.
Infrared Photocoagulation – is suitable for treating small/medium size hemorrhoids. Infrared heat is applied on the hemorrhoids by the doctor with an IR device that coagulates the dilated veins of the hemorrhoids. The blood vessels coagulate and stop the blood flow thereby eliminating the hemorrhoids.
Laser Coagulation – This technique is relatively new and in this treatment electric current is applied through the hemorrhoids. The electric current produces a chemical reaction that stops the supply of blood to the hemorrhoids to shrink.
Hemorrhoidectomy – a surgical procedure. The hemorrhoid groups in the anal canal are surgically removed using a laser, scalpel or cautery device.
